7th Floor Records | Bound Volumes

The 7th Floor Records Project is a special project of the Tuscaloosa Genealogical Society Inc. with a mission to preserve, digitize, index, and publish the 19th century court records that were previously stored on the 7th floor of the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse. Records previously found on the seventhfloorrecords website are now on the new Tuscaloosa Genealogical Society website hosted by FastHealth, Corporation.

The Bound Volume collection consists of 602 books ranging in date from 1822 through 1961. Almost half of these, 292 as of February 1, 2025, have been indexed. Decade Indexes of 1820s and 1830s with links have been made. Other Decade Indexes will be made as individual page links are added.

All book indexes and galleries are visible by opening 7th Floor Book Indexes and Galleries. Individual page links are provided for books prior to 1840. For other books, click the index to see the index of an individual book. Make a note of the image number of your person of interest. Click gallery to see all the images in the book. Note: if the first image does not show, try the second, third, etc. Sometimes the first images act like a placeholder.

We are in the process of linking all individual pages to their names in an index. If you are interested, we welcome anyone who would like to participate. Please reach out to Nikki Mucci to volunteer. She can send you instructions, including a video, to get you started.

If you would like to help index a book, look through the galleries to see if an unindexed book interests you. Contact Betty Wedgeworth for instructions and access to the indexing template. She will guide you on the process and provide any necessary support.
